Wayne M. Sutton, 73, Altoona, passed away at his home Friday. He was born in Philadelphia, Pa, son of the late Louis M. Sutton and the late Agnes Sutton. He married Laura Lee Beasom March 26, 1982 in Roaring Spring, Pa.

Surviving are his daughter Bridget Sutton Fulmer (Roger) of Sharon, Pa, Robert F. Sutton of Clairton, Pa, Kimberly Houtz (Rick) of Cambridge, Md., Jennie McMullen (Chris) of Hilton Head, SC., Catherine Chverchko (Fred) of Altoona; two sisters: Beverly Lawrence and Louise Ann Palma; one brother Mark Sutton, and three grandchildren: Dominic, Adelle, and Abigail. He was preceded in death by two brothers: Rorie Sutton and Brian Sutton.

After graduating West Islip high school, Wayne served in the U.S. Army for two tours in Vietnam in the 173rd Airborne Brig., being awarded a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart. He then served in the U.S. Army Reserves in the special force unit being trained as a Green Beret.

Wayne retired from Appleton Papers after 35 years of service as a Supervisor. He served as a former Chief of Duncansville Vol. Fire Department, where he is a life member. He was also a member of the National Rifle Association and the Hollidaysburg Sportsman club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, target shooting, skydiving, cooking, and especially spending time with his family.

Services for Wayne will be private at the convenience of the family
