Vergie M. Shannon

Vergie M. Shannon, 83, Altoona, passed away late Monday evening at Graystone Manor at Bellmeade. She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late David and Helen (Harshbarger) Wilt. On October 22, 1956, she married Franklin D. Shannon in Maryland. He preceded her in death on January 22, 2017. She is survived by two sons: Ricky L. and wife Kim of Altoona and Michael J. and wife Carrie of Ohio; a daughter, Cindy L. Barr and husband Rick of Tyrone; 12 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; a sister, Elaine Fayson of Altoona; and best friend and sister-in-law, Phyllis Nemic. She was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister. Vergie retried from SKF Factory as an assembly line worker. She was a member of the Buckhorn Bible Church and she enjoyed painting, gardening, and most importantly, spending time with her family. Friends will be received from 10 am to 2 pm on Friday, April 15, 2022 at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc., 719 N 4th Avenue, Altoona where a funeral service will be held at 2 pm with Pastor Tim McGarvey officiating. Interment will be made at Fairview Cemetery, Altoona.
