Ruth A. Soliday

Ruth A. Soliday, 84, Altoona, passed away Saturday morning at UPMC Altoona. She was born in Somerset, PA, daughter of the late James Wilson and Mary Ellen (Burkett) Sarver. On January 22, 1956, she married R. Bruce Soliday in Las Cruces, NM., In addition to her husband of 64 years, she is survived by two daughters: Debbie A. Brown Gormley and husband David of Altoona, and Joy L. Soliday Arend and husband Robert of Altoona, granddaughter Jennifer Joy Arend, many nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Amanda Joy; sisters: Alda, Jane, Phil, Jolinda and Margaret; and a brother, Paul; a son-in-law, Joe Brown; a special uncle, Herman Burkett; and a niece, Ellen Miller. Ruth was a homemaker. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and the Central Pennsylvania Prison Outreach. She was a graduate of Somerset Area High, Class of 1955. Her hobbies included collecting post cards, antiques, dolls, and Barbies. Ruth is the last of her immediate family. Private family services will be held. Interment will take place at Grandview Cemetery, Altoona. Arrangements are by Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Calvary Baptist Church Missions Fund or General Fund.
