IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Robert L.
Patterson
November 26, 1946 – December 27, 2025
Robert L. Patterson, 79, Duncansville, died Saturday at his home.
He was born in Altoona, son of the late Gerald and Mary (Smith) Patterson.
On July 22, 1991, he married his soulmate, Mary “Patti” (Modico) Patterson, in Manassas, VA. She preceded him in death on December 9, 2021 due to Covid-19.
He is survived by his wonderful twin sister, Roberta Gan of Duncansville and her daughter, Amrapali Gan of New York City. He is also survived by another sister, Sue Prevento and her husband Andy and their four daughters and families; and a grandson and best pal, Alex Zimmerman and his family. A special thank you Alex for always being there for your “Pap”. And a great family friend, Lisa Dwelley, who was always there with an encouraging word.
Robert was a 1964 graduate of Altoona High School and shortly thereafter entered the United States Navy, where he served from 1964 to 1969. His service included time at the Naval Communication Station in Guam and aboard the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Ranger in the Pacific for fifteen months.
He retired in 2006 after dedicating 30 years of service as a carman with Norfolk Southern. He was an avid sports fan, particularly devoted to Curve baseball, holding season tickets since the team’s inception. He also enjoyed watching the Pittsburgh Pirates, the Steelers, and Penn State football. His faith was an essential part of his life, and he faithfully attended services at the Altoona Full Gospel Church in Lakemont.
At the request of the deceased, no public services will be held. Interment will be made at Greenwood Cemetery.
