Richard “Dickie” C. Hollows December 20, 1960 - August 26, 2023 Passed away unexpectedly on August 26, 2023. Preceded in death by his father, Harvey “Wimp” Forest Hollows. He is survived by his mother Joanna K. (Miller) Hollows, siblings: Dawn Moss, Harvey Hollows Jr., Kathi Watson, Andy Hollows, and daughters: Sienna Schmelzle, Carissa McCauley, and grandson Ash McCauley. He was loved so deeply by his daughters, family, and friends.
Rich’s previous employment included but was not limited to: J. E. Williamson Machine Shop of Bellwood, and Small Tube Products. We all know that life is more about the moments, hobbies, and the people you share those times with that make life worth living. Rich was an avid bowler, not only bowling in local bowling leagues for many years, but also assisted in coaching youth bowling. He was always up for a round of golf with friends. Those who knew and loved him can reminisce and laugh about the jokes he shared and the absolute prankster he was during his lifetime. He loved boating, shooting pool, and hunting. There are many happy family vacation memories of us chasing adrenaline rushes at amusement parks, and weekends at Lake Raystown. There was always a fun-packed day to be had on the lake. Most importantly, he loved spending time with family and friends and never took those moments for granted. He was so very proud of his girls.
Rich was also a proud patron and supporter of Fort Apache VFW Post 8685 and Fraternal Order of Eagles #1859. Please feel free to share any memories so we may all remember him in the best way, through stories. I know we all would agree that Rich was by far one of the greatest storytellers. His unexpected passing has left a hole in our hearts that we hope to fill with happy memories that are shared.
In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in his memory to the Altoona Area Public Library as he was a voracious reader. He always enjoyed a good horror, thriller, or mystery novel but you could find him devouring practically any genre. Donations can be made in person at the library or online at:
