Ralph E. Shumac

Ralph E. Shumac, 82, Altoona, passed away Saturday at UPMC Altoona. He was born in Juniata Gap, son of the late George Anthony and Emma May (Walker) Shumac. On September 3, 1983, he married Charlotte B. Adams Tilson in Edith Davis Eve Chapel. In addition to his wife, Charlotte, of 38 years, he is survived by ten children: Carol, Susan Codwell, Shirley Daugherty, Ralph Shumac, Jr., all of Johnstown, Joe Tilson (Deb), Ken Tilson (Billie Jo), Brian Tilson (Kathy), Bill Tilson (Tammy), Mary Blontz (Joe), and Richard Tilson (Tina), all of Altoona; 24 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters. Ralph retired in 2000 after 15 years of service from Burgmeier’s Hauling. Friends will be received from 3 to 7 pm on Thursday, December 9, 2021 at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc., 719 N 4th Avenue, Juniata where a funeral service will be held at 7 pm with Pastor William Ice officiating. Interment will be made at Blair Memorial Park.
