Philip N. George, 77, Altoona, passed away Thursday at his home surrounded by family. He was born in Blossburg, Pa., son of the late Arthur and Norma (Button) George Webster.
He married Nona Courtright June 9, 1967, in Tioga, Pa.
Surviving are his wife Nona; two children: daughter, Lois George of Belleville, Pa.; his daughter, Amanda George-Wheaton and her husband, David, of Lutherville, Md.; four grandchildren: Joshua George and his wife, Amy, of Bellwood, William Huling, Emmett Wheaton and Warner Wheaton; a great-grandchild, Scarlett George; numerous brothers, sisters and stepbrothers and stepsisters.
He was preceded in death by his son, Daniel George; and two sisters, Beth George and Donna Slocum.
Philip was a 1965 graduate of Williamson High School in Tioga, Pa.
Philip was a local business owner, an active member of Altoona Mennonite Church, and enjoyed spending time with family, attending worship at church and being outdoors.
Friends will be received from 10 a.m. until the funeral service at noon Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at Altoona Mennonite Church, with Pastor Tim Martin officiating. Interment at Charlottesville Cemetery, Tipton.
Arrangements are by Mauk & Yates Funeral Home Inc., 719 N. Fourth Ave., Altoona.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Central Pennsylvania Humane Society, 1837 E. Pleasant Valley Blvd., Altoona, PA 16602.
