Paul "Gunner" Neil Smith

Paul Neil “Gunner” Smith, 71, Altoona, passed away Sunday evening at UPMC Altoona. He was born in Altoona, son of the late Claude Neil and Beverly Jean (Ebersole) Smith. He is survived by three children: Crystal Smith, Paul Smith, and Joe Smith; four grandchildren: Bailey, Casey, Jordy, and Sam; and three siblings: Sharon McClain (Dick), Bonnie Lombardi (Jan), and Chris Smith(Jennifer); all of Altoona. Gunner served in the U.S. Coast Guard. He was a member of the Swiss Club, the Bavarian Aid Society, and VFW – Fort Apache. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, was an avid sports fan, especially the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pirates, and Penguins, and Penn State, and enjoyed golfing and fishing. A visitation will be held on Friday, March 19 from 10 a.m. until Noon at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc., 719 N 4th Avenue, Juniata with Committal Services immediately following at Grandview Cemetery.
