Oliver Perry Wance, 89, Duncansville, passed away Saturday at UPMC Altoona.
He was born in Ganister, PA, son of the late Harvey Harrison Eugene and Laura (Garrett) Wance.
He is survived by his wife, Emily; children: Mark Wance and wife Donna of Hanover, Debra Free of Phoenixville, and Diane Stinson and husband Mike of Blue Bell; stepsons: Andrew Epple and wife Polly Altoona, Aric Epple and wife Nicole of Altoona and Jon Epple and wife Tammie of Bellwood; twelve grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Oliver was preceded in death by his siblings and was the last surviving relative.
Oliver was a 1953 graduate of Altoona High School. He served in the US Air Force from 1953 to 1957; serving in Germany from 1954 to 1957. He worked for Peoples Natural Gas Company for 32 years; retiring in 1989. He served on the Gasco Eastern District Federal Credit Union for 15 years and he also served as union rep for S.E.I.U Local 666 from 1980 to 1984. He drove for Meals on Wheels for 17 years.
He enjoyed bowling, woodworking and gardening.
Friends will be received from 10 to 11 am on Thursday, October 26, 2023 at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc., where a funeral service will be held at 11 am with Pastor Mark Lingenfelter officiating. Interment will be made at Blair Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
