Mary Ann Gottshall

Mary Ann Gottshall, 92, Altoona, passed away Saturday at her home.

She was born in Petoskey, Michigan, daughter of the late Thomas and Bernice (Witroski) Malec.

On April 23, 1960, she married Edward R. Gottshall in Long Beach, CA.

In addition to her husband of 65 years, she is survived by a daughter, Jennifer Melbinger and husband Timothy; a son, Jonathan Gottshall and wife Emily; grandchildren: Lydia, Toby and Harrison Gottshall and Allison and Nathan Melbinger; and siblings: Cynthia Hurt in Indiana, Judy Richardson in Michigan and Thomas Malec, Jr. in Michigan. She is also survived by her beloved dog, Ella.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Julie and a sister, Peggy.

Mary Ann was a 1954 graduate of Providence Hospital School of Nursing. She retired in 1992 from the UC Irvine Medical Center.

She was a member of St. Therese of the Child Jesus. She was a registered nurse, homemaker and sang in the church choirs and Hollidaysburg Community Chorus.

Family and friends will be received from 10 to 11 am on Thursday, October 2, 2025 at St. Therese of the Child Jesus, 417 25th Avenue, Altoona, PA 16601 where a funeral mass will immediately follow at 11 am with Rev. Brian P. Norris officiating. Inurnment will be made at Greenwood Cemetery, Altoona.
