M. Emilie Igou

Emilie Igou, 87, Hollidaysburg, died Wednesday at UPMC Altoona. She was born in Hope Camp, daughter of the late John E. and Agnes May (Berkey) Newell. On March 14, 1958, she married Richard A. Igou in Penfield. He preceded her in death on May 26, 2017. Surviving are three daughters: Cynthia May Absher of Port St. Lucie, FL, Catherine Marie Cominio of West Palm Beach, FL, and Patricia Lynn Wendle of Hollidaysburg; ten special grandchildren; 11 special great grandchildren; siblings: David Newell of South Carolina, Mary Maholtz Penfield, PA, Jessie Maholtz of Penfield, PA, and Harwood Newell of DuBois, PA; a special grand-nephew, Ben Boorem and a special grand-niece, Mika Boorem; and a number of other grand-nieces and grand-nephews. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Jennifer Ann Tomalson in 2018; a grandson, Quinten; a brother, John Newell; and a sister, Josephine Bojalad. Emilie graduated from Huston High School in Penfield, PA and the Clearfield Hospital School of Nursing. She retired as a Registered Nurse from Allegheny Lutheran Home. She was a member of East End United Methodist Church. Due to the recent COVID-19 recommendations, a private family service will be held. Interment will take place at Logan Valley Cemetery, Bellwood.
