Lilia Jane Capone Sprankle

Lilia Jane Capone Sprankle (Lil), 94, passed away peacefully at her home on April 21, 2021. She was the daughter of Constantino and Cristina Capone. She was married first to John Diehl, and in 1976 married Harry Sprankle.

She was preceded in death by her husband Harry (2002), beloved daughter Sheila (2003), brothers Domenic, Arturo, Dino, Eugene, and sisters in law Dawnjannelle, and Tess, as well as stepson Jonas, grandson Brian and great grandchild Josie.

Lil attended school in Altoona and spent her working years first at the Silk Mill and then for 12 years as a nurse’s aide at Mercy Hospital.

Lil was a member of Holy Rosary Church and sang in the choir and was a long-time member of the Sons of Italy. She loved water aerobics, word games, music, and dancing. She especially loved being surrounded by family and friends.

She leaves behind daughter Lisa and her partner Ron, brother Alberto, sister-in-law Marilyn, as well as grandchildren Jason, Julie, Penny, Doug, Sherry and Amanda, four nieces, a nephew and seven great grandchildren.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 900 N 4th Street, Juniata, with Very Rev. Ronald V. Osinski, V.F. officiating. Immediately after there will be a private interment at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Central PA Humane Society or Holy Rosary Church.
