Lawrence J. Shank

Lawrence J. Shank, Jr., 88, Altoona, passed away early Tuesday morning at his home after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born in Altoona, son of the late Lawrence J., Sr. and Ullainee (McTague) Shank. He married JoAnne E. Shank in Winchester, VA. In addition to his wife, JoAnne, of over 60 years; he is survived by four children: Roxanne Shank of Binghamton, NY, Elizabeth (Shank) Bettwy and husband Jim of Altoona, Lawrence J. Shank, III and wife Jan of East Hartland, CT, and Stephen A. Shank and wife Ruth of Altoona; seven grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren. Lawrence was a graduate of Altoona High School and Pennsylvania State University. He was a member of the Pennsylvania State Republican Committee, VFW, the Pennsylvania National Guard, and Past President of the Pennsylvania Tavern Association. He enjoyed spending time with his family, politics and golf. Private family services will be held.
