L. Joann Bennett

L. Joann Bennett, 90, Altoona, passed away Sunday at UPMC Altoona.

She was born in Altoona, a daughter of the late Sinary and Dorothy (Maglauchlin) Dinges.

On December 24, 1960, she married Charles W. Bennett. He preceded her in death on June 13, 2014.

She is survived by a son, Stephen “Steve” Bennett (Donna) of Altoona; a nephew, Bruce Black; grandchildren: Holly Garner (Thad), Nicole Garner (Shane) and Justin Bennett; and numerous great and great-great grandchildren..

She was preceded in death by sisters, Sandra Murphy and Betty Dinges.

Joann was a lifelong member of Juniata Presbyterian Church. She was an active member and served as church secretary for a period of time.

She enjoyed many dedicated years working with the Honorable R. Bruce Brumbaugh. She also enjoyed road trips and playing cards.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm on Thursday, July 18, 2024 at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc., 719 N 4th Avenue, Altoona, 16601. A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Friday, July 19, 2024 at Juniata Presbyterian Church, 522 N 7th Avenue, Altoona, 16601. Interment will be made at Grandview Cemetery.
