Joy Soliday-Arend

Joy Lynn Soliday-Arend, age 63, of Altoona, passed away Friday at UPMC Altoona. Joy was born on August 20, 1959, in Everett, Pennsylvania. She graduated summa cum laude from Mount Aloysius College in 1982, where she earned an associates degree in nursing. She worked as a critical care registered nurse, and she kept her passion for medicine long after she retired. Joy devoted her life to taking care of others. She loved music, and she was an avid reader. Joy is survived by her husband of 44 years, Robert Arend; daughter, Jennifer Joy Arend; father, Robert Bruce Soliday; sister, Deborah Gormley; and a multitude of other friends and family members whom she loved dearly. She was preceded in death by her mother, Ruth Ann Soliday (Sarver) and daughter Amanda Joy Arend. A graveside service will be held at Calvary Cemetery on Wednesday, March 1, 2023; at 10 a.m. and all are welcome to attend.
