Jospeh E. Berchick

June 16, 1950 — October 2, 2020

Joseph E. Berchick, 70, Altoona, passed away Friday evening at UPMC Altoona. He was born in Hollsopple, son of the late Joseph and Clara “Sally” (Penner) Berchick. He is survived by his girlfriend, Marianne R. Iacovella; two daughters: Carrie Berchick of Johnstown and Ivanna Iacovalla of Altoona; two grandchildren: Lillyona and Bentley Iacovella; and a sister, Marcie Ball of Arizona. Joseph retired as a maintenance supervisor from the Hollidaysburg Veteran’s Home. He was a member of the Heidelberg, Catholic War Veterans, VFW Post 8724, Duncansville, Swiss Club, Newburg, Cesare Battisti Club, and a lifetime member of the Bavarian Aid Society. He enjoyed cooking and canning, making wine, playing cards, especially pinochle and watching the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates. He served in the US Navy. A celebration of life service will be held at a later date. Interment will be made at Custer Community Cemetery, Somerset County. Arrangements are by Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc.
