John James Stoy, Sr., 87, Altoona, passed away early Wednesday morning at Midtown Oaks Health & Rehab Center.

He was born on October 10, 1938 in Ashville, the son of the late Clarence, Sr. and Florence (Holland) Stoy.

He married Marian L. Crawford on January 30, 1965 in Winchester Virginia. She preceded him in death on July 10, 1992. He was also preceded in death by his long-time girlfriend, Susan L. Kelley, on February 26, 2023.

He is survived by his children: Karen Renee Stoy (Bill Stotler) of Williamsburg, Tina Louise Smith (David) of Saxton, John Jr. (Angela) of Altoona and Polly Ann Young of Altoona. John had seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He is survived by the following siblings: Anna Halerz, Dorothy Rash, Barbara Moran, Shirley Hausberger, Patricia Riley, Debora Parks, Evelyn Barnes and Calvin Stoy.

He was preceded in death by the following siblings: Clarence Stoy, Jr., Earl (Abe) Stoy, Joseph Stoy, Charles Stoy, Donna Stoy, Connie Stoy, Helen Esposti, Winifred Harris, Betty Ickes, Lois McCoury and infant Florence. He was also preceded in death by an infant son, Clarence Allen Stoy.

John dedicated 36 years of service as a bus driver for Amtran, before his retirement in 2001. He was an active member of the Bavarian Club, Altoona Pistol & Rifle Club, Bellwood Sportsmen's Club, Frankstown Sportsman's Club and the Tyrone Sportsmen's Club. He enjoyed hunting, attending shotgun shoots and scratching lottery tickets. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were his pride and joy.

A private internment will be held at Blair Memorial Park, Bellwood.
