John C. Becker

John C. Becker, 66, Hollidaysburg, passed away at his home early Sunday. 

He was born in Altoona, son of the late Raymond C. and Vivian L. (Evans) Becker. He married Judy Baker in 1972, and she preceded him in death in 2001. He then married Cindy Smith in 2009.

Surviving is his wife, Cindy; two children: Van "Charlie" (Angela) Becker of Oklahoma City, Okla. and Carrieann E. Hackman (James Cathers) of Avonmore; six grandchildren: Angela (Joe) Page, Corinna Hackman, Brett Hackman (fiancé, Hanna Rennick), Haley Hackman, Elijah Rosbach and Braydon Murray; three great-grandchildren: J.J. and Noah Hackman, and Charlie Hope Page; four siblings: Richard (Cherie) Becker of Altoona, Sherry (Charlie) Lingenfelter of Claysburg, Jeff (Regina) Becker of Panama City, Fla. and Doug Becker of Buffalo, N.Y.; three sisters-in-law: Sandy (Greg) Blair, Jan (Randy) Miles and Sue (Ted) Kane;  numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and Jack, the cat.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two infant grandsons: John Charles and Jacob Robert Becker; his stepfather, Ray Lance; and two brothers: Paul Becker and infant, Raymond Jr.

John attended Hollidaysburg Area High School until joining the U.S. Army in 1969, at age 17. He served in Vietnam from 1971-72, and then was stationed in Germany and Texas until he was honorably discharged as sergeant in 1977. 

He retired from sales with the Leeds Leather Co. after many years of service. He was a member of the Bellwood VFW John M. Anderson Post 424. 

John loved spending time with his family, especially the monthly family breakfast times. He also enjoyed Steelers football, collecting movies and was an avid Elvis fan.

Friends will be received from 2 until the 4 p.m. memorial service Sunday, June 30, 2019, in the lower level at Trans4mation Church, 1001 S. 1st St., Altoona, Pastor Troy Ferguson officiating. Inurnment will be at Blair Memorial Park. Arrangements are by Mauk & Yates Funeral Home Inc., Juniata.
