Jeffrey Lynn Oblinger, 64, Altoona, passed away unexpectedly Saturday.
Born in Altoona, Jeffrey was the beloved son of the late Robert and Carrie “Peg” (Holsinger) Oblinger. He found his soulmate in Lisa Renae Kane, and they were united in marriage on October 24, 1981. Their bond of 43 years was marked by unwavering support and deep affection. The two were high school sweethearts and have been together since the ninth grade.
Jeffrey is survived by his adoring wife, Lisa; his daughter, Katy Oblinger, with her partner, Lindsey Dooner, of Alexandria, VA; his son, Cody Oblinger of Altoona; and a precious granddaughter, Nola, who brought immeasurable joy to his life. He will also be greatly missed by his sister, Alvina “Missy” Stewart; his nephew, Randall Karle; and loving in-laws: Don and Jeanne Bryan, Kim and Dane Sager and Paul and Kris Shields, along with a large extended family who held him dear.
For 30 years, Jeffrey dedicated his talents to FL Smithe Machine Company, followed by a successful venture as a self-employed electrician, running Oblinger Electric, and working as an independent contractor for Blue Knob Auto and numerous local businesses. His work ethic was commendable, and he took pride in his craft.
A passionate fan of all things Pittsburgh, Jeffrey’s heart beat especially for the Pittsburgh Steelers, for whom he held season tickets for over 35 years. His enthusiasm extended to the Pirates and Penguins, and he delighted in traveling to Pittsburgh to enjoy various events, including concerts where he reveled in the performances of artists like Phil Collins and Mötley Crüe.
However, Jeffrey’s greatest joy stemmed from his family. He treasured moments spent on family beach vacations, cherished driveway parties, and the special times with his granddaughter, Nola. Watching Katy play basketball, first in high school and then at the College of William and Mary, filled him with pride. He also found pleasure in golf and the challenge of puzzles. In a recent conversation with his brothers-in-law, Jeff said he did everything he wanted to do.
Family and friends will be received from 3 to 6 pm on Friday, July 18, 2025 at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc., 719 N 4th Avenue, Altoona, where a funeral service will immediately follow at 6 pm. Interment will be made at Blair Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, a gesture of time or monetary donations can be made to Society of St. Vincent de Paul, PO Box 231, Altoona, PA 16603 where Jeff dedicated many hours helping those in need.
