James F. Ritter

June 8, 1927 — April 9, 2022

James F. Ritter, 94, Altoona, passed away late Saturday evening at UPMC Altoona. He was born in Lewisburg, son of the late Lee and Anna (Horne) Ritter. On December 4, 1953, he married Lenetta Perna in Milton. She preceded him in death on July 6, 2011. He is survived by two daughters: Suzanne Foust (Mike) of Lock Haven and Carol Hilpman (Paul) of Kansas City, MO; four sons: James Schell (Sigred) of Altoona, Ronald Ritter of Utah, Todd Ritter (Barb) of Altoona, and Thad Ritter (Avis) of McKees Rocks; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Henry and Leroy. Jim was the owner of J&L Distributors, retiring in 1991. He was a member of the Greenwood United Methodist Church, Milton American Legion, Bavarian Hall, and National Rifle Association. He enjoyed bowling and hunting. He served in the US Navy from 1945 to 1946. Friends will be received from 11:30 to Noon at Greenwood United Methodist Church, 1505 E Walton Avenue, Altoona 16602, where a memorial service will be held at Noon with military honors. Arrangements are by Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc.
