James Linden Porter

James Linden Porter, 68, Altoona, passed away early Friday morning at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Altoona, son of the late Lee Clifford and Betty Louise (Hall) Porter. On December 27, 2002, he married Marie A. Snyder at Ft. Apache VFW, Juniata. In addition to his wife, Marie; he is survived by two sisters: Linda Cummings and Susan Burns; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Danielle Porter; a brother, Steve L. Porter; and a sister, Laura Ann Gipe. Jim was a 1969 graduate of Altoona High School. He retired from General Cable as a Maintenance Manager and he previously had worked for Proctor Silex. He was a member of Ft. Apache VFW. He enjoyed being outdoors and helping other in need and loved his rescue cats. He served in the US Marine Corps during Vietnam from 1970-1971. A graveside service will be held for family and friends on Monday, August 10, 2020 at 11 a.m. at Grandview Cemetery, Grandview Road, Altoona with full military honors. Interment will take place immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Central PA Humane Society, 1837 E. Pleasant Valley Blvd., Altoona, PA 16602.
