Gerald A Walters

Gerald A. (Jerry) Walters, 81, of Altoona, died Thursday morning, August 11, 2022, at the VanZandt VA Medical Center, Altoona. He was born June 17, 1941 in Altoona a son of the late Calvin Lee and Margaret Irene (Reese) Walters. He married Ruth White who preceded him in death on April 7, 1989. He is survived by one daughter, Susan L. Welshans and husband Harry, of Altoona, three grandsons: Scott Snyder, Justin Snyder and Joshua Snyder and six great grandchildren. He is also survived by a number of step grandchildren and step great grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters; Bonnie Black and husband Pat of Blue Knob, Nancy Dively and husband Gabe of Blue Knob and one brother Ronald Walters and wife Lee of Portage. Jerry retired as an electrician at Blair Electric in Altoona. He was a graduate of the former Greenfield-Kimmel High School. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Jerry loved golfing and bowling but especially enjoyed playing Santa Claus. Friends will be received from 1-3 p.m. and 5-7 p.m., Monday, August 15, 2022 at the Mauk and Yates Funeral Home, Inc. Interment will be at Blair Memorial Park, Antis Twp. At Jerry’s request, there will be no funeral service.
