Gary B. Smith, Sr.

Gary Blair Smith, Sr., 78, Altoona, passed away Wednesday evening at the Embassy of Woodland Park in Huntingdon County. Gary was a local musician, painter and a member of the Altoona Eagles, VFW Post 3, IAIA, Bavarian Aid Society, Newburg Fire Hall, Bellwood Eagles, UVHA in Bellwood, and served in the US Coast Guard. He was born in Altoona, son of the late Harvey Smith, Jr. and Lorraine (Stehley) Oswalt. He is survived by his wife, Darlene (Leonard) Smith, whom he married on May 9, 1986; a sister, Twila Myers; four children: Gary Smith, Jr. of Patton, Sheila Bruening and husband Jeremy of Mechanicsburg, Bryan Smith and wife Nichole of Monongahela, Colrenna Smith of Altoona; a stepson, Travis Myers of Altoona; and a stepdaughter, Melinda Bressler and husband Chuck of Bellwood; 17 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first love Patricia (Robison); two brothers: Dennis and Donald; two grandchildren; and step-father, Leroy Oswalt. Friends will be received from Noon to 2 pm with Memorial Service to follow on Saturday, January 22, 2022 at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc., 719 N 4th Avenue, Juniata with Barbara Servello officiating.
