Edmund "Rusty" Russel Hughes

Edmund “Rusty” Russel Hughes, 66, Altoona, passed away Monday at Hillview Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. He was born in Altoona, son of the late George I. and Joyce M. (Burley) Hughes.

He is survived by two daughters: Kelly Skarzynski and husband Matt of Connecticut and Cristy Plummer and husband Dave of Ebensburg; four grandsons; four siblings: Darlene Arthurs and husband Gary of Kentucky, Sandra Williams of Altoona, Jeffery Hughes of Altoona, and Mindy Billetdeaux of Roaring Spring; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers: Forrest Hughes and George Hughes, Jr.; a sister, Cheryl Plunket; and a niece, Jenny Gregory.

Rusty worked as a roofer for M&M Roofing in Duncansville for over 30 years. He enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting, and especially loved spending time with his family.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corps.

A memorial service will be held at Noon on Tuesday, March 22, 2022 at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc., 719 N 4^th Avenue, Juniata with military honors. Inurnment will be made at Asbury Cemetery.
