Dorothy Bush

Dorothy Ellen Bush, 85, Altoona, passed away Wednesday at the Altoona Center for Nursing Care. She was born in Coalport, daughter of the late Melvin and Dorothy (Simmers) Helsel. She married John E. Bush, Sr. He preceded her in death on February 12, 2014. Dorothy is survived by a son, John E. Bush, Jr. and wife Lisa of Juniata; a daughter: Martha Jones and husband Scott of Bellwood; nine grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; and three siblings: Alice Blake of Westover, Robert Helsel of Irvona and Martha Jasper (William) of Coalport. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Farber; foster son, Bernard “Joey” Braniff; and a brother, Melvin. Dorothy was a graduate of Beccaria High School and a homemaker. Friends will be received from Noon to 1 pm on Monday, November 7, 2022 at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc., 719 N 4th Avenue, Altoona where a funeral service will be held at 1 pm with Rev. Elizabeth Hess officiating. Interment will be made at Blair Memorial Park.
