Doris E. Griswold

Doris E. Griswold, 95, Altoona, went home to be with her Lord Jesus Saturday, October 11, at Garvey Manor Nursing Home. She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Dorsey and Rebecca (Figart) Winters. She married Charles E. Griswold October 7, 1950, in Altoona. He preceded her in death February 13, 2006 .

Surviving are her three children: her son Chuck (Debbie) Griswold; her daughters Wendy S. Griswold, and Marcia L. Selby (Rick); 7 grandchildren: Courtney Matthews, Chad Griswold, Marcy Phillips, Tim Selby, Jamie Mauk, Eric Griswold, John Dellape; and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a grandson Michael Ryan Griswold.

Doris was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a graduate of Altoona High School and a longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church. Doris enjoyed sewing and crafting. She also enjoyed travelling with her husband in their motor home, and especially enjoyed spending time with her family on her patio.

Special thanks to all of the caretakers at Garvey Manor for their sincere and personal care for Doris over the past few years.

Friends will be received from 11:00 AM to12:30 PM, with a Memorial Service beginning at 12:30 PM on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at Tipton Baptist Church, with Pastor Jason Mauk, officiating. Interment at Blair Memorial Park, Bellwood. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Doris’s name to Samaritan’s Purse-Operation Christmas Child (OCC), PO Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607 or pack an OCC shoebox in her honor.
