Donald Scott Grace, Sr.

Donald “Scott” Grace, Sr., 61, of Altoona, passed away Saturday evening due to complications from Covid-19.

He was born in Altoona, son of the late Darrell L., Sr. and Shirley M. (Swanger) Grace. He married Rae C. Brown on September 22, 1979 in Altoona.

In addition to his wife, of 42 years, he is survived by three children: Donald “Scott” Grace, Jr. and wife Jamie of Altoona, Caitlin E. Grace and husband Brian Whittaker of Altoona, and Jordan I. Grace of Pittsburgh; two grandchildren: Everett Whittaker and Connor Grace; two sisters: Connie McNelis and husband Mike of Bellwood and Tammy Grabill and husband Terry of Altoona; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Darrell, Jr.

Scott was a 1977 graduate of Bellwood High School. He was the owner of D.L. Grace & Sons and the Kettle Inn Bar and Grill.

He was a proud Pappy and loved spending time with his grandchildren. The boys were the light of his life and often referred to them as his “buddies”.

He was an avid Nascar fan, a Cub Master for over 20 years, and was involved with various charities and organizations throughout his life, like the Humane Society and Toys for Tots. He loved spending time with his pets and traveling to Florida. He loved being surrounded by friends and family and was often the life of the party. He had a selfless mindset and put everyone else first.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, October 28, 2021 at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc., 719 N 4th Avenue, Juniata. Friends will also be received from 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service on Friday, October 29 at the funeral home with Pastor Ken Smith officiating. Interment will be made at Logan Valley Cemetery.
