Donald W. Focht, 74, Altoona, lovingly known as, “Bus Driver Don”, passed away Friday at UPMC Altoona.
He was born in Altoona, son of the late Walter and Janet (Sinclair) Focht. On November 11, 1967, he married Karen J Pittman in Altoona.
In addition to his wife, of nearly 56 years; he is survived by four children: Brian Focht and wife Lisa of NJ, Brent Focht and wife Christine of PA, Kimberly Santos and husband John of NJ, and Kelly Musselman of Altoona; son-in-law, Andrew Musselman of Altoona; eleven grandchildren: Katelyn, Ryan, Bailey, Hunter, Liam, Anthony, Brandin, Colton, Alexis, Bradley, and Brooklynn; a sister, Karen Maher and husband Richard of Altoona; and a brother, Kenneth Focht, Sr. and wife Marlene of Altoona.
He was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Janet and a brother Alan Focht.
Don attended Central Bible College in Springfield, MO. He retired after 25 years of service from PPG Industries. After retirement he drove school buses for the Altoona Area School District and Freedom Excursions. He was a member of Transformation Church and Blair County Game, Fish, and Forestry Association.
Don was a devoted son, husband, father and grandfather. He took pride in spending time with his family and making memories. He enjoyed playing Santa Claus over the years, and cheering his grandchildren on at all their sporting events. In his earlier years he enjoyed raising and showing horses. He also made some fond memories with “the boys” on the hunting trips to Maine. He was a friend to all and a great storyteller. 4 Sure!
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Monday, April 24th with visitation from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 1 p.m. at Trans4mation Church, 1001 S. First Street, Altoona PA 16602.
