Christine Louise Mathieu

Christine Louise (Leaper) Mathieu, 77, Altoona, passed away Saturday at Graystone Manor.

She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Roscoe and Lelia Leaper.

On May 15, 1982, she married Cyril Mathieu in Altoona. He preceded her in death on March 15, 2023. Chris and her husband retired to Sun City Center, Florida in 2013 until their move back to Pennsylvania.

She is survived by children: Scott Grassmyer (Janet) or Sarasota, FL, Kevin Grassmyer (Kelly) of Altoona and Chad Grassmyer (Angela) of Millersburg; step-children: Kelly Mathieu of Altoona, Kevin Mathieu of Hanover, MD and Jay Mathieu of Bellefonte; grandchildren: Tristan, Chase, Hunter, Skyler, Alec and Ashley Grassmyer; step grandchildren: Arjay, Logan and Bradley Mathieu; great grandchildren: Genna and Sam; a sister, Cheryl Craig (Bones) of Bell, FL and nephew, Tom Traficante and his son, Mason of Kenawall, GA.

Chris worked as a CNA for over 30 years in the Altoona area. She was a member of Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church in Sarasota, FL. She enjoyed spending time with her family, going to the Florida beaches, casinos and fishing.

Friends will be received from 10 to 11 am on Monday, July 1, 2024 at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc., 719 N 4th Avenue, Altoona, 16601 where a funeral service will immediately follow at 11 am with Rev. Dr. Barry Folmar officiating. Inurnment will be made at New Enterprise Cemetery.
