Catherine Marie Laich, 98, Altoona, passed away Monday at her home.

She was born in East Freedom, daughter of the late Roy Charles and Jane Carlotta (Ott) Weyandt.

On November 18, 1949, she married Lynn Earl Laich in Winchester, VA. He preceded her in death on June 11, 2015.

She is survived by five children: Diana (Allen) Everhart, Lisa Smearman, Barbara (Rick) Cole-Cahill, Sandra (Brian) Musselman, and Carol (Gary) Winters; grandchildren: Jeff, Janna, Mary, Dan, Lynn, Vicky, Amy, Ryan, Stephani, Amanda, Henry, Sarah, Emma, Leah, Mara, Mitch, and Megan; 26 great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; and daughter-in-law, Rosemary Laich.

She was preceded in death by a son, Dean Laich; a granddaughter, Delsha; sons-in-law: William R. Smearman and Henry S. Cole, III; and siblings: Melvin, William, Henry, Gladys, Robert, Shirley and Donna.

Catherine was a member at Trinity Lutheran Church. She was a homemaker and enjoyed reading, crocheting and most importantly, loved spending time with her family and grandchildren.

Friends will be received from 5 to 8 pm on Friday, April 3, 2026 at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc., 719 N 4th Avenue, Altoona. Friends will also be received from 10:30 am to 11 am on Saturday, April 4th at Trinity Lutheran Church, 408 N 6th Street, Altoona, where a funeral service will begin at 11 am with Rev. Elizabeth Hess officiating. Interment will be made at Grandview Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church or to the JUMC Angel Feet Ministry.
