Bernard T. "Bernie" Hoover

Bernard T. “Bernie” Hoover, 86, Altoona, died Friday morning at his home following a lengthy illness. He was born in Pennsylvania, the son of the late Arthur and Elda (Good) Hoover. On October 12, 1985, he married Bernice C. Beres in Altoona. Surviving are his wife, Bernice; two sons: William (Nanci) and Greg (Karen); five grandchildren; one great grandson; three sister-in-laws: Millie, Cathie and Pat. He had a special bond with his nephew, Bob Beres. Bernie served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked as a manager in the financial field. He was a lifetime member of the Bavarian Aid Society and enjoyed traveling with his wife to various casinos. At the request of the deceased, there will be no public viewing. Private services were held at the convenience of the family at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc. with Rev. D. Timothy Grimme officiating. Committal was made at Calvary Cemetery.
