Audrey Jean Stout

January 14, 1937 — December 10, 2020

Audrey Jean Stout, 83, State College, formerly of Altoona, passed away Thursday evening. She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Howard Jacob and Margaret Marie (Baker) Wendle. She married Thomas Stout and he preceded her in death. She is survived by two children: Thomas Melvin Stout and wife Shelley of Horseheads, NY and Tracey Stout Deak and partner Philip A. DeHaas of State College, PA; grandchildren: Michelle Christine Stout of College Station, TX, Alexis Theresa Stout of Horseheads, NY and Joshua Thomas Stout of Horseheads, NY; two sisters: Sue Casalvieri (Willie) and Judy Claar (Sam); and dear friend, Ronald “Buck” Ray of Roaring Springs. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Rachel Ann Mauger and five siblings: Robert Wendle, Gerald Wendle, Lois Lingenfelter, Kathleen Musselman, and Ruth McClellan. Audrey graduated from Hollidaysburg High School in 1955. She lived in Altoona and more recently in State College near her daughter in a senior living community. She was a member of the Bavarian Club and enjoyed bowling, Senior Olympics, miniature golf, fishing, jewelry making, reading, dancing, PSU and Steelers football and the Blair Towers’ many social activities. Audrey always said her greatest accomplishment is her two children, Thomas and Tracey, and she adored her 4 grandchildren; Rachel, Michelle, Alexis and Josh. Audrey bowled in seasonal leagues at Holiday Bowl and participated and medaled in the Senior Olympics in both bowling and miniature golf. She was a member of The Bavarian Club and attended their Golden Nuggets Dinner Dances, occasional dinners and band nights. Audrey was “Altoona Proud.” She enjoyed the Altoona High School’s Seniors’ Proms and Mishler Theater events. She loved to laugh and socialize with her many friends, old and new. She was an attentive and loving sister to her siblings, Sue and Judy, and always helped those in need. Inurnment will take place at Carson Valley Cemetery. Arrangements are by Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 4550 Montgomery Avenue, Suite 1100 N, Bethesda, MD 20814.
