Billie L. Bonsell

Billie L. Bonsell, 87, passed away late Wednesday afternoon at UMPC Altoona. Billie resided with his daughter, Tammy, at her home. He was born in Tyrone, son of the late Clair William and Mary Helen (Smith) Bonsell. He married Georgeanna C. Boone on June 26, 1954, in Cumberland, MD who preceded him in death on August 27, 2010. Surviving are seven children: Billy Bonsell of Altoona, Roberta Key and husband Anthony of York, PA, Tammy Mountain, Clair William, and Eugene Craig, all of Altoona, Terry Bonsell and wife Karen of WV, and Wayne "Mitch" Bonsell and wife Carol of Tyrone; 18 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one sister: Sharon of Altoona; and two brothers: Palmer Bonsell of Altoona and Don Bonsell of Tyrone. He was preceded in death by two sisters: Audrey and Coretta; an infant sister, Florence and an infant brother, David. Billie was a graduate of Tyrone High School. He retired from the railroad in 1991 as a welder and served 12 years in the National Guard. He was a member of Altoona Restoration Church of God. Billie was an avid fisher, enjoyed photography and video making, and anything related to trains. Friends will be received from 9 AM to the noon funeral service Saturday, February 28, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc., Juniata, with Pastor Timothy Guyer officiating. Interment at Logan Valley Cemetery.
