Frederick B. Hamil

Frederick B. Hamil, 83, Altoona, passed away early Sunday morning at Valley View Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born in Altoona, son of the late W. Frank and Sara Mae (Auker) Hamil. He married Dorothy R. Frederick on January 30, 1952 in Altoona. In addition to his wife, Dorothy, he is survived by three daughters: Rebecca Plouse and husband John, of Altoona, Laurie Stewart and husband Jim, of Cumberland, MD, and Jennifer Dorman and husband Fred of Bellwood; nine grandchildren: Michelle Haigh, Courtney Freidenbloom and husband Joe, Martin Haigh and wife Angela, Melinda George and husband Jim, Jacob Morder and wife Beth, Jennifer Sagal and husband Dave, Benjamin Turek and wife Valerie, Jessica Peacock and husband Roger, and Freddie Dorman and girlfriend Pam Weyant; 18 great-grandchildren: Nicholas, Luke, Ethan, Piper, Paige, Memphis, Cody, Eli, Morgan, Judah, Esther, Trey, Lincoln, Avery, Alexis, Adalyn, Genevieve, and Acadia; one sister: Beverly Gena and husband Mike; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers: Richard and Edward Hamil, and one son-in-law, Ronald Turek. Frederick attended Altoona High School and retired from Conrail in 1981, but his greatest achievements and contributions were through his love for his family. He enjoyed photography, wood crafting, and technology. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, March 11, at the Hillside Community Church, 508 Cambria St, Bellwood, 16617 at 11 AM, with Pastor Randy Zitterbart officiating. At the request of the deceased, no visitation will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hillside Community Church.
