June E. Hess

June E. Hess, 88, formerly of Bellwood, died Thursday morning at Valley View Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Altoona, a daughter of the late John and Ruth (Dell) Bowser. She married George A. Hess, Sr. on August 23, 1944 in Winchester, VA. He preceded her in death on June 11, 1992. Surviving are two children: son, Harry Ritz of Altoona and daughter, Mary A. Johnson of Warriors Mark; nine grandchildren; and 24 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, George, a daughter, Joan, a brother, Paul Bowser, and a sister, Pearl Nearhoof. June retired in 1971 from the Pennsylvania Shoe Factory where she was a machine operator. Her hobbies included crocheting and knitting. Friends will be received from 10 AM until the noon funeral service, Monday, April 6, 2015, at Mauk and Yates Funeral Home, Inc., 719 N 4th Avenue, Juniata, with Pastor Ken Beichler officiating. Interment at Logan Valley Cemetery.
