Carol L. Murphy

Carol L. Murphy, 69, Altoona, went to be with the Lord, late Sunday evening at UPMC Altoona. She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Thomas D. and Sarah P. (Price) Ferguson. She married Byron P. Murphy, Sr., March 3, 1967, in Winchester, VA. She is survived by her husband of more than 48 years, two sons: B. Paul Murphy, Jr., of Arizona and Dale C., at home; a daughter, Kari R., at home; three grandchildren: Ryan, Shawn, and Maura of Arizona; four brothers: Thomas C. (Donna), of Newark, DE, Raymond P., Sr. (Carol), of Elkton, MD, Harold L. (Sharen), of Altoona, and Rev. G. Robert (Liz), of Hillsdale, PA. Carol was a 1963 graduate of Tyrone High School and retired from the Altoona Area School District where she served as a Teacher's Assistant with Special Needs Children. She was a member of Pleasant Valley Assembly of God where she was a former member of the choir, taught Sunday School and signed for the deaf. She enjoyed reading and music. Friends will be received, Thursday, June 18, 2015 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM at Mauk and Yates Funeral Home, Inc., 719 N 4th Avenue, Juniata and Friday, June 19, 2015 from 10 until the 11 AM funeral service at Pleasant Valley Assembly of God, 801 Pleasant Valley Blvd., Altoona, PA 16602, with Rev. James Balzano officiating. Interment at Grandview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Pleasant Valley Assembly of God or to the American Cancer Society, Blair Unit, 1004 North Juniata Street, Hollidaysburg, PA 16648.
