Frederick I. Lowery

Frederick I. "Fred" Lowery, 82, went to be with the Lord Jesus Christ Thursday, at Golden Living Center, Hillview. He was born in Ellerslie, MD, the son of the late Lewis W. and Mary (Schaub) Lowery. He married Shirley J. Carson on January 24, 1952, in Cumberland, MD. She preceded him on August 11, 2000. Surviving are two daughters: Charlotte Lynn Beere (Charles J.), of Mount Holly, NC, and Barbara Michelle Templon (Patrick) of Mesa, AZ; three grandchildren: Douglas Lubert (Brandy), David Lubert, and Holly Burrall (Tony); five great grandchildren: Benjamin, Noah, Brooklyn, Karis, and Kenley; one brother, James R. Lowery (Ruth), of Sandusky, OH; one brother-in-law, James P. Parshall, of Altoona; two sister-in-laws: Charlene Lowery, of Altoona, and Elizabeth Albright (Paul); a special friend, Sondra Gochnaur, of Hollidaysburg; and nieces and nephews. One brother, John Lowery and one sister, Nancy Parshall, preceded him into eternity. Fred was a 1949 graduate of Altoona High School. He had worked as a Pennsylvania Railroad electrician before becoming a member of the Altoona Police Department from which he retired. After his retirement, he worked and retired for Bon Secours Holy Family Health System in the Security Department. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, the Heidelberg Country Club, the Jaffa Shrine, the Swiss Rifle Club, the Bavarian Hall, the Unter Uns, the Fraternal Order of Eagles, the UVA, and the Juniata VFW. Friends will be received, Sunday, June 21, 2015, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM and Monday, June 22, 2015, from 10 until the 11 AM funeral service at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, 719 N 4th Avenue, Juniata, with Pastor Bill Pepper officiating. Interment at Blair Memorial Park.
