John E. Weidley, Jr.

John E. Weidley, Jr., 95, Altoona, passed away early Tuesday morning at the Hollidaysburg Veterans Home. He was born in Altoona, son of the late John E., Sr. and Daisy Florence (Hannah) Weidley. He married Marjorie E. Glenn, May 3, 1942 in Crafton, PA by Rev. John C. Hare, she preceded him in death on December 18, 2010. He is survived by a daughter, Darice Rutter and husband John; a son, John "Jack", III; three grandchildren; two step grandchildren; six great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and a sister, Betty Ernest. He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles. John was an Altoona High Graduate and attended classes at Penn State University. He retired after 34 years of service from the Altoona Mirror as a Pressman. He was a member of the Fourth Lutheran Church and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and woodworking. John enjoyed traveling with his wife and spending time at their cottage in Sinking Valley and Cliffside Acres, Everett. John served in the Navy as an electrician. Friends will be received, Friday, July 17, 2015 from 1 until the 2 PM funeral service at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc., 719 N 4th Avenue, Juniata, with Pastor Richard Harter officiating. Inurnment at Rose Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Home Nursing Agency-Hospice Unit.
