Catherine O. Starrett

Catherine O. "Cathy" Starrett, 81, formerly of Altoona, died Monday night at Cambria Care Center, Ebensburg. She was born in Homers Gap, Blair County, the daughter of the late Conrad F. and Anna Marie (Smith) Starrett. Surviving are many nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Debbie Sease of Portage. She was preceded in death by a sister, Jean McGarry. Cathy was a member of the Pleasant Valley Assembly of God. She was a 1951 graduate of Altoona High School and was a life member of the Altoona High School Alumni Association and was secretary of the reunion committee. She was a member of the AARP and the Big A Booster Club. She was an avid fan of Altoona High School football, Penn State, and the Pittsburgh Steelers. She retired from Philips ECG where she was a line worker for more than 28 years of service. She also worked as a nurse's aide at Garvey Manor Nursing Home. Friends will be received Thursday, October 8, 2015 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc., 719 N 4th Avenue, Juniata, where a funeral service will be held, Friday, October 9, 2015 at 11 a.m. with the Reverend John Gray officiating. Interment at Asbury Cemetery.
