A. Margaret Summers

A. Margaret Summers, 97, Altoona, passed away late Thursday evening at her home.

She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Charles and Margaret (Ulsh) Summers. She was formerly married to Doyle Neugebauer, who precede her in death in 1993.

 
Margaret is survived by a son, William D. Neugebauer and wife Linda of Altoona; two grandchildren: Megan Neugebauer of Huntingdon and Molly Jurcik and husband Carl of Mechanicsburg; great granddaughter, Callie Jurcik, the love of Margaret’s life; sister, Ella Marie Fox of Duncansville; and numerous nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Judy Blackie of Altoona.
 
Margaret was a graduate of Altoona High School, Class of 1936. Prior to retirement, she worked as a legal secretary for the City of Altoona. She was a former member of Simpson Methodist and attended Fairview United Methodist.
 
One of Margaret’s joy was bowling. She spent her time at Pleasant Valley Recreation Center bowling with a team of retirees. She was a lifetime member of the USBC Altoona District, The United States Bowling Congress, a women’s bowling association. She also enjoyed crossword puzzles and was an avid reader.
 
Friends will be received, Thursday, March 3, 2016 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Mauk and Yates Funeral Home, Inc., 719 N 4th Avenue, Juniata and from 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service, Friday, March 4 with Pastor Jason Schwartzman officiating. Interment at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
 
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Margaret’s honor to Fairview United Methodist Church, 2214 5th Street, Altoona, PA 16601.
