Janis Ardriene Ammerman

Janis Ardriene Ammerman, 90, Altoona, passed away Tuesday afternoon at the Altoona Center for Nursing Care.

She was born in Tyrone, daughter of the late Eugene Harry and Helen (Morrow) Ammerman. She lived in Altoona most of her life.

Janis is survived by a sister-in-law, Mary Ammerman (Dan); nephew, Mark Ammerman (Lisa) of Houston, TX; niece, Terri Ammerman, of Houston, TX; great-nephews: Joe and John Christman, of Altoona; and many more nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and several great-great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers and sister.

Janis was a 1943 graduate of D. S. Keith High school in Altoona.  She served her country from 1956-1960 in the Naval Reserve.  She attended many craft shows and enjoyed portrait painting and teaching art lessons.  She was a long time member of the Sweet Adeline Chorus.

The family wishes to thank the wonderful and loving caregivers at Altoona Center for Nursing and Grane Hospice for their love and care for Aunt Janis.

A private family service will held at the convenience of the family.
