Dean W. Laich

Dean W. Laich, 64, Altoona, passed away Saturday afternoon at his home.
He was born in Altoona, son of Lynn E. and Catherine Marie (Weyandt) Laich. He married Rosemary T. Laich March 16, 1979 in Guam.
In addition to his wife of 37 years, he is survived by his mother, C. Marie; children: Delsha Walker of Mechanicsville, VA, Jeff Laich of Altoona, Janna Schoch of Sunbury, Mary Hall, Dan Laich, Lynn Laich II, and Vicky Laich, all of Altoona; 12 grandchildren; 5 sisters: Diana, Lisa, Barbara, Sandra, Carol; and numerous “adopted” children.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lynn.
Dean was a 1970 graduate of Altoona High School and attended numerous military schools. He served in the U.S. Navy for 20 years and retired from Norfolk Southern after 10 years of service.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the VFW Post 8685, and a lifetime member of the NRA and Bavarian Aid Society. He enjoyed camping, horses, and shooting pool.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, May 5, 2016 at Mauk and Yates Funeral Home Inc., 719 N 4th Avenue, Altoona where a funeral service will be held Friday, May 6, 2016 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Elizabeth Hess officiating. Interment at Grandview Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be to the family.
