Emma T. Atkinson

Emma T. Atkinson, 91, a resident of Maybrook Hills, formerly Valley View Health & Rehabilitation Center, died Sunday morning August 7, 2016, at UPMC Altoona.
She was born May 2, 1925, in Altoona, a daughter of the late Thomas and Emma (Barnes) Green. She married Paul Atkinson who preceded her in death.
Surviving are three sons: Thomas J. (Gillian) of Shelburne Falls, MA, Steven P. and David L., both of Altoona; two grandchildren: Kate and Nick; two sisters: Helen Wolf of Warren, MI, and Linda Fowler of Bellwood; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret Ostrander and Joan Slates.
Emma was primarily a housewife but she had also worked at Butterick’s and J. C. Penney’s. She was a graduate of the former Altoona Catholic High School. She enjoyed cooking, baking, reading and watching television, but, she really enjoyed spending time with her family.
Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, August 9, 2016 and from 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service on Wednesday, August 10, 2016, at Mauk and Yates Funeral Home, Inc., with Chaplain Barbara Rossi, officiating. Interment at Alto-Reste Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may also be made to the charity of your choice.
