Ronald Mahlon Merritts, Sr.

Ronald Mahlon Merritts, Sr., 74, Altoona, passed away Tuesday at his home.
He was born in Washington, D.C., a son of the late George M. and Mariam (Snoberger) Merritts. He married Sylvia J. Adams December 31, 1966 in Altoona at Calvary Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife Sylvia, of 50 years, he is survived by three sons: Louis C. Adams of Altoona, Ronald M. Jr. (Tammy) of Altoona, and David S. Merritts (Laura) of Alabama; nine grandchildren: Carol, Paula, and Andrews Adams, Mikki, Ronald, III, Jordan, David, Joshua, and Rachel Merritts; seven great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and a brother, James Davis of Altoona.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Sandra Connor.
Ron was a graduate of Altoona High School and retired in 2006 as a custodian. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He served in the United States Navy.
Friends will be received from 10 until the noon funeral service, Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc., 719 N 4th Avenue, Altoona, 16601. Pastor Ron Anderson officiating. Interment at Blair Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 810 Ruskin Drive, Altoona, PA 16602.
