Fred R. Fields, 82, Altoona, died Tuesday at UPMC Altoona Campus after a brief illness.
He was born in Altoona, a son of the late Fredrick and Margaret E. (Little) Fields. On December 21, 1955, he married Jane Louise Karlson in Alexandria, VA.
Surviving are his wife of 61 years; two sons: Ronald Fields (Valerie), of Katy, TX, and Randy Fields, of Sealy, TX; six grandchildren; one great grandchild; and two sisters: Donna Beagle, of Newry, and Barbara Ramsey (Danny), of Juniata.
Fred retired February 1, 1973, from the U. S. Air Force with the rank of Technical Sergeant after 20 years service. He served with the Presidential squadron (Air Force One) for nine years of his service time. He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church and the Horseshoe Amateur Radio Club. He was a 1952 graduate of Altoona High School.
There will be no public visitation. A Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, January 20, 2017 at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc., Juniata with Rev. Elizabeth Hess officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow at Grandview Cemetery, Altoona.
