Viola M. (Greenawalt) Gingery

April 15, 1918  --  January 21, 2017

                Viola M. Gingery, 98, formerly of Juniata, passed away Saturday evening at Orrstown Personal Care Home where she has been a resident for the past ten years.

                She was born in Altoona, a daughter of the late Harry and Edna (Brooks) Greenawalt.  She married Paul D. Gingery on May 4, 1940.  He preceded her in death on September 27, 1988.  She was also preceded in death by a son, Richard, who died July 7, 1950.

                She is survived by two daughters, Barbara Bloch (Jerry) of Boynton Beach, FL and Patty Kaufman (Jake) of Chambersburg, PA, four grandchildren, Katie Thornton, Patrick Thornton (Jill), Jennifer Taurasi (Matt) and Rachel Bloch; three greatgrandchildren, Brogan and Oliver Thornton and Evelyn Taurasi.

                Besides her husband and son, she was predeceased by her parents and four siblings;  Ellen Crawford, Bertha Meghan, Daniel, and Vernida Wilson.

                Friends will be received from noon until the 1pm funeral service on Tuesday, January 24, 2017, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc., 719 N 4^th Avenue, Altoona, PA, with Rev. Elizabeth Hess, officiating.  Interment at Grandview Cemetery.
