George James Welsh, Jr.

George James Welsh, 41, Altoona, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Saturday, March 25, 2017.
He was born in Rochester, son of George and Joyce Sinkovitz Welsh.
Surviving are three children: Karson Welsh, Cassidy Welsh and Keiren Regitz-Welsh; a stepson, Conner Geary; his mother and stepfather, Joyce and Bruce Slade; a sister, Marilyn Welsh; a stepbrother, Ben Slade; a great-aunt, Gloria Sinkovitz; six cousins: Mark and Shirley Young, Gary and Gail Forsythe, and Milt and Beverly Young; and his wife, Carlissa Welsh.
He was preceded in death by his father, George Welsh; and grandparents: Donald and Elva Welsh and James and Jean Sinkovitz.
He was a graduate of Altoona High School and Ashford College.
George was an avid fan of the Penn State Nittany Lions and the Pittsburgh Steelers. He played guitar and performed with various Christian bands.
He touched the lives of many people and will be missed. Perhaps 6 year old Keiren said it best: “My George is in Heaven and Heaven cured my George.”
A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 19, 2017 at Pleasant Valley Assembly of God, 801 Pleasant Valley Blvd., Altoona, PA 16602.
