Vasta A. Eichelberger
October 22, 1923 — July 19, 2017
Vasta A. Eichelberger, 93, Hollidaysburg, passed away Wednesday afternoon at UPMC Altoona.
She was born in Louisville, GA, a daughter of the late John and Jesse (Hart) Means. She married Carl W. Eichelberger. He preceded her in death on November 26, 1989.
She is survived by a daughter, Della J. Sabatino and husband Nick of Hollidaysburg; a granddaughter, Jodi Cummings and husband Jeff; two great grandsons: Tyler and Lucas Cummings; a brother, Richard Russell Means; special nieces, Amanda and Joni; and a special nephew, Harold.
She was preceded in death by two sons: Allan and Ned; and three brothers and four sisters.
Vasta was a homemaker and a member of the Juniata United Methodist Church.
She served as a brownie leader for many years and was involved in many church activities. She was a wonderful seamstress and home baker. She sewed many wedding party ensembles.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, July 24, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the Juniata United Methodist Church, 808 N 4th Street, Altoona, 16601. Pastor T.R. Hardic officiating. Interment will be made at Grandview Cemetery, Altoona.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Juniata United Methodist Church.
