James R. Reighard

James R. Reighard, 82, Altoona, died Sunday, September 17, 2017, at UPMC Altoona. He was born in Altoona, son of the late Thomas R. and Regina (Stiendel) Reighard. He married Jolinda Hallett October 7, 1961, in Altoona at St. Mary's Catholic Church.

Surviving are his wife; his son Stephen Reighard and wife Julia of Boalsburg; his daughter Raymalee Frank and husband Shawn of Altoona; his grandsons Jordan Reighard and Nathan Frank; his step granddaughter Tressa Nolan and step-great-grandson Wyatt; and one sister Marcella Hunter of Tyrone. He was preceded by two brothers: Thomas and Gerard Reighard.

Jim was a 1954 graduate of Altoona Catholic High School, and served in the U.S. Army National Guard. He then worked at Boyer Candy for 35 years, completing his service as the Vice President of Marketing and Sales, after which served another 10 years at Gardner Candies. He was a member of St. Therese of the Child Jesus Catholic Church, and also a member of the Altoona Traffic Club, the Altoona Breakfast Chamber, the Kiwanis of Altoona, the National and Eastern Confection Conference, and of the Alpha Delta National Fraternity.

He was an avid Penn State and Pittsburgh Steeler football fan, and especially loved and enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 PM Thursday, 9/21/2017, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Therese of the Child Jesus Catholic Church at 10 AM Friday, 9/22/2017, with Father Timothy Grimme, officiating. Committal at Grandview Cemetery.
