Donald E. Kruise

Donald E. “Don” Kruise, 84, Altoona, passed away early Thursday morning at UPMC Altoona.
He was born in Altoona, a son of the late Joseph J. and Margaret (Kibler) Kruise.
Don is survived by his fiancé, Sue Snyder of Hollidaysburg; two daughters: Judy Crisafulli and husband Paul of Ocala, FL and Donna McIntire of Green Acres, FL; a son, Walter Paul Carothers of Juniata; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by four sisters: Retta Mae Stegman, Joann Washington, Hilda Clouser, and Carol Ann Fagan; and two brothers: Ken and Joseph.
Don served in the United States Army and retired from the Altoona City Highway Yard. He was also owner of Kruise Tree Service.
He was of the Catholic faith and was a member of the Bellwood Eagles, the Altoona VFW, the Bavarian Aid Society, and Newburg Fire Company Social Hall.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, October 9, 2017 at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, Inc., 719 N 4th Avenue, Juniata where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, October 10, 2017. Interment will be made at Blair Memorial Park Cemetery, Antis Township.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Salvation Army Food Pantry.
